Positive Quotes and Hellllo February

First of all, can we just take a moment to say a big fat hello and 'How are ya?' to February. Today is the first day in a very long time that I've woken up, opened the curtains, seen beautiful blue skies and some lovely spring sunshine and I for one am very happy about this. Yea it still might be cold outside and you can't put those winter clothes away just yet, but its bright and my surroundings look happier, so yeah for that!

I've spoken to so many friends and colleagues about how blue January felt and many of them spoke about how they lacked motivation, felt down, unhappy and just generally wished the month of January away. For some reason, I too found January 'difficult'. Many mornings and days were foggy,my enthusiasm was low and generally I craved days when I could turn off my alarm, stay under the duvet for the day and just not hang out with the world. For the most part, I'm a glass half full kind of person, so feeling this bad was alien to me. Listening to a recent radio show in Ireland, they discussed all of the above and came to the conclusion, that us Irish don't get enough vitamin D. An important vitamin for our well being and an vitamin that we should consider taking daily. Sound advice, but I'm generally not great about reminding myself to take tablets or vitamins so its not something I'm not embarking on right now.

However, as an alternative and in praise of this new bright cheerful sunshine, I'll be 'looking up' today, absorbing the first of those spring rays and spending Saturday topping up my Vitamin D levels the natural way.

Here's to February, you beautiful, beautiful month.

Sunshine!

Yes, thats right folks!! Sunshine is forcast for some or part of the weekend here in lovely Limerick! Happy Days! I'm looking forward to creating some Mothers Day and more St Patricks Day cards for my Etsy shop, catching up on some reading as part of my MA course and getting loads of sleep after Charity week in UL comes to an end!

I've also bought a mini green house and will start sowing some sweet peppers, tomatoes and herbs! I'm looking forward to the day when  I can just pop out to the backgarden and pick some of the above for a summer salad!

Yesterday I heart-ed..

....sunshine!

The forecast said 20 degrees plus for Sunday, August 15th and so it began. "We have to get up early" Robert said, "We have to beat the crowds!" Robert said......"Come on, Come on!!!!" Robert said...again! For those of you who don't live in Ireland, the phenomenon of sun, (yes it is a phenomenon!) is an event in itself. A rare event that we greet with open and sun lotion-ed sticky arms! We grab the best beach towels we have from the hot press, root through our winter clothing for those linen trousers you bought just incase we got "a bitta sun!", throw together the bare bones of a picnic (flask of tay and a few hang sandwiches (tea and ham sandwiches)) and off we go...to the beach, praying to the high sun gods that no else has thought of going there today........except everyone has had the same idea as you and before you know it, you're scrambling for a car space, driving round and round the car park looking for someone, anyone to pull out and get a much sought after space!

Then you have to get the perfect beach space, somewhere with a bit of shade....yes shade! We wait months and months on end for the sun only to leg it to the beach and get some shade! We are a funny bunch! However there are legitimate reasons for said piece of shade! We don't tan.....at all, or at least I don't! Instead we turn a tomato shed or red, experience some agony for a few days which can only be relived by after sun chilled in the freezer and then we return to our natural colour of white.....milky white.

Needless to say, I can't wait for our next day of sun!

Custom Order Success! :)

Afternoon everyone, I hope you're enjoying the incredible sunshine out there!!!
I'm afraid I am not.......why?......Well I thought it would be a great idea to head out last night, and I'm paying for it today! :(

.......however the good news is that I had been working away on a few samples over the last few days for a lovely lady called Jenny. She contacted me out of blue asking if I could create some specific thank you cards for a conference she is hosting in NUI Maynooth......I emailed her three samples and she loved them so much she ordered a bunch of all them! Hurragh!

Check out the photo's......thank you to our recent bout of sunshine for helping to create some great natural light! Also, do you like my new card stand? picked it up in IKEA for a savage 89c! whooo!

The Weekend Ahead!

...........so what are you plans for the weekend everyone?

...........as Limerick is due to experience some warm sunshine (yes, I said the word warm and sunshine in the same sentenance!), I can see myself sitting in my flower-less (future summer project) back garden with my dinky white garden furniture sipping a wee white vino whilst sucking up some Vitamin D from our nearest star!
..........in between Vitamin D vino enduced breaks, I shall be working on four wonderful custom orders this weekend, starting right after (I promise) I finish writing this post. I love custom orders and love it more when they love the finished product! (Did I say love enough times??......No?.....love, love, love.....LOVE!)

..........and then finally on Sunday I'll be visiting the varied Bedford Row Market in Limerick to say hello to Ruth of Nice Day Designs, her new brooches are calling me!..maybe I'll fit in a stroll around the peoples park too........and then probably around 7pm, I'll start getting the Monday work blues..........but for now, enjoy the weekend everyone and I hope it's sunny where you are! :)
