Goodbye Limerick, Ireland - Hello Manchester, UK

The short version of the story goes as follows:

- The boy applied for a very important and impressive science programme in the UK
- Said programme involved lots of hard apptitude tests and four (FOUR!) interviews
- He passed them all, but didn't get a place
- He did however get placed numero uno on the reserve list. (We thought "So close, yet so far!)
- We thought "Nobody will cancel, Canada looks pretty though, lets move there."
- We started to research Canada, save a bit of moo-lah and imagined living there.

And then....

-Boy gets phone call. Place offered. Place accepted. We're moving to Manchester!

Why is this awesome, fantastic and all round amazeballs?

- I'm excited for him, but also for the change Manchester will bring for both of us
- I've already researched a ga-zillion artistic projects happening over there and I just want to get stuck in,     like right now!
- I can now do all the creative and "was too scared to try" things I wanted to do with LuckyRainbowDesigns! Vlogging anyone?
- I've lived in lovely Limerick for 13 years and a change in scenery is very much needed even though I will miss my current work colleagues and Limerick friends.
- Did I mention I'm excited to become a 'proper, no holds back blogger/vlogger now?'

The plan...

Science boy (as I like to call him (I'm art girl by the way!)) has to be in the UK for the start of September and will be there in the next 6 weeks! I'm on the job hunt, and who knows how long that will take to materialize. I will join him once that very big box of employment is ticked. Science boy even suggested I make a real, proper go of LuckyRainbowDesigns on a full time level and put into plan all the wacky, crafty ideas I talk about at every hour of the day....but erm, that's kinda scary.(or is it??)

Right now, we're researching nice places to live, saving money and looking foward to the big move. I'm also looking at every single item I own (especially everything in the craft room) and wondering should I keep, sell or throw it away. Be prepared for a very big online sale of clothes, items for the home and crafty tools and materials.

Lets be Bloglovin friends......pretty please!

In case you and the internet were on a break, Google reader will be no more from July 1st! What does that mean I hear you cry? Well, if you use Google reader to keep up with your favourite blogs and their funky, informative and down right awesome posts, then you won't be able to read them. Yup, nada, ziltch...."computer says no!".

So hows about we all just move over to Bloglovin and become besties over there. It's lovely, the kind of place where you can chill out, kick off your shoes and dance like no one is watching. I'd hate to you lose any of you between the hustle and bustle of the shuffle and hey, if you're on the move there too (or elsewhere for that matter!) - do let me know, I'm nosey like that and more importantly want to keep in touch with y'all.

So to conclude, jump into Bloglovin, the waters just fine and isn't it time we took a risk, sweetheart?

Positive Quotes

Short & Sweet!

Do MORE of what you love!

You know what, I spend waaaaaay too much time watching TV and sitting on my back side, so this week, in a mini experiment, I'm switching off that black box and doing more of what I love. For me that's organising the house, taking some long walks, crafting and creating, cooking nice meals and maybe a spot of baking too!

It's easy to come home from the 9 to 5 grind, throw yourself on the sofa until its time for bed. Don't get me wrong, there's no harm in it, but usually after spending about 15 - 20 hours a week sat in front of the TV I'm left wondering why I still have sooo much to and why on earth I havn't the time to do the things I really want to do, the things I love or the mini goals I set for myself. It's all the TV's fault!! (and of course me and and my love for procrastination occassionally!)

So, throw caution to the wind, free up some time, switch off that TV (or internet connection) and off with ya! Do MORE of what you love people!

Two months, no blogging...now what?

You know what?

I took a break. I needed a break. I was tired, mentally tired and oh.so.emotional.

I wont sit here and say to you all, "I'm so sorry, I haven't blogged in over two months, I'm a terrible person!" - 'cas sometimes...well actually, lets be honest here, alot of the time, life just gets in the way, throws you a few curve balls and generally gives you two fingers. You can suck it up, move on, and deal with it. Or you can wallow a little, feel sorry for your self, eat all the junk food you can get your grubby mits on and generally get into one of those shame-spirals Cher from Clueless talked about back in the 90's. (I do love me a bit of Clueless)

I probably did a bit of both and have pretty much spent the first have of the year questioning everything to point where I now hate questions. "What do you want for dinner, Rebecca?" - Go away, don't you know I hate questions these days and I gave them up for Lent a while back. (Ok, I haven't been that dramatic, but pretty close!).

The good news, looks like I'm not alone out there in the grand scheme of feeling overwhelmed, tired, emotional and upset all.of.the.time! I came across a multitude of part time and full time successful bloggers who needed to take time out and who also demonstrated via their blog enormous guilt for doing so. We are all human, we deserve a break now and again, to live life in the slow lane for once and not let that lovely brain of ours get so overwhelmed that we feel we can't cope. If you need a break from something, take it. Maybe its work, maybe its your second job, a hobby, something you volunteer your time with....just take it , for as long as you need and you'll feel all the better for it.

Why did I feel all of the above with a little crazy thrown in for good measure? Well, I guess I had more on my plate than I realized. I was coming to the end of supporting the other half through four years of college, I had just finished my MA, I was offered a position with a company I loved which I had to turn down, my full time job was busy, I was blogging, doing all the social media you're 'supposed' to do for a small business, making and crafting in the evenings, volunteering and generally being all things to all people. In hindsight, I was going to crash land with a big fat loud bang. That, I did. But, its okay. I'm better now.

So, now what I hear you say?

Well I get back on the blogging wagon guys and gals, that's what. Which, of course I've missed. I have spoken for so long now about adding new types of content to this blog space and this I want to embrace. Not in a "get so busy, that I crash and burn again" kind of way, but subtly and via baby steps. It may be useful to you, it may be not, but for me, its a new venture and something fun, exciting and positive. So, lets do it!

But, first up.....I turned 31 everyone! The only thing that bugs me about the age is that it's an odd number. Never been a big fan of odd numbers.
